Celebrate Southampton's Heritage

As part of Southampton's Heritage Fortnight celebrations, we invite you to step into the stories of our city. In September you can join our guides for  walks through the Central Parks, Southampton Common, and the Old Cemetery. Discover local character in tours like “On the Street Where You Live,” “Oh Where the Saints,” and “Carlton Crescent & Rockstone Place.” It's a month of rich history, hidden gems, and hometown pride.

Stories of the Old Town

We’re excited to launch a new guided walk exploring the hidden history of Southampton’s Old Town.



Beginning at God’s House Tower, this evocative journey winds through cobbled alleys, forgotten chapels, friary ruins, and hidden vaults. Discover the stories of friars, merchants, and pioneers who shaped the city—still visible today, if you know where to look.


In collaboration with God’s House Tower, this tour offers fresh insight into the South and East of the Old Town. Tours run Mondays at 1pm, starting 18 August. £10 per person, with under-16s free. Book online or pay on the day.

SOUTHAMPTON HERITAGE WALKS

Celebrate Southampton's Heritage with five captivating guided walks exploring the city’s rich history. Wander Victorian parks, uncover stories in the Common and Old Cemetery, stroll  Bugle Street’s layered past, discover medieval churches and musical echoes, and admire Regency elegance in Carlton Crescent. Each tour offers fresh insight into Southampton’s greenery, grandeur, saints, and storytellers.

Come and find the rich history of Southampton! Walk around its Medieval town walls and step down into its hidden vaults. Hear about the history of the iconic medieval buildings still in existence in the town and about the colourful characters that once lived here.
